Frank is licensed to practice law by both the State of Michigan and the State of Illinois and has over 30 years of legal experience.  

  

His practice includes a broad range of (1) real estate matters, including commercial real estate purchase and sales, landlord and tenant representation in commercial office leasing, and loan transactions, (2) business and corporate transactions, and (3) liquor licensing, beverage and hospitality legal matters.


Frank is also:

  • An accomplished entrepreneur and business owner with a wealth of experience in leading several successful business ventures through their full life cycle from formation to a successful exit strategy.
  • An experienced real estate professional with over 25 years of experience as a real estate developer, green-builder, broker, investor and investment advisor. Frank has been a LEED credentialed professional and a licensed real estate broker in both the States of Michigan and Illinois.
  • A passionate advocate and volunteer with The Climate Project (now known as The Climate Reality Project) since 2007, an international non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding climate change, and the tremendous economic opportunities afforded through clean technologies, energy efficiency, green building, clean tech and alternative energy solutions.


Frank’s clients have included a variety of individuals, corporations, developers, lenders, venture capital and private investors. He has extensive experience in drafting and negotiation of a diverse assortment of contracts and agreements relating to matters involving corporate formation, acquisition, disposition and financing transactions; purchase, sale, construction, financing and operation of commercial, residential and retail projects; leasing on behalf of landlords and major tenants; real estate secured lending; as well as workout and debt restructurings on behalf of lenders and borrowers. Frank’s legal experiences range from sole practice to working with two of the largest law firms in the country; Sidley & Austin of Chicago, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom of New York.


Frank is active in his community, previously serving as Board President of the Ecology Center in Ann Arbor, a non-profit dedicated to innovative solutions for a healthy people and a healthy planet, and has in the past served on the advisory board of Intentional Communities Washtenaw, a non-profit organization formed to provide housing and community options for adults with disabilities, and a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Association of America, the YMCA Youth in Government Program, and the Saline Area Baseball & Softball Association. Frank is also a past chair and vice-chair of two separate local community political organizations.


Frank’s interests include writing, travel, skiing, biking and energy and environmental issues.  Some of his personal highlights include being married to his wife of 28 years, Elizabeth, raising their four children, spending one year traveling around the world with his family in 2004-2005, delivering his youngest child, and riding a bike across America to raise seed money for a pediatric brain cancer foundation.
